Soccer Shots is an elective program offered to children ages 3-6 that meets once a week at daycare centers and preschools for 30- to 40-minute sessions. All Soccer Shots instructors are energetic and enthusiastic, are great teachers, and love working with children. Not only do the instructors teach soccer skills but they work on improving balance, coordination, and agility with the kids. Soccer Shots also uses the sessions to teach children important concepts such as teamwork, sharing, and respect.

Local Leadership:
Barbara Maia grew up in a military family. As the youngest of seven children, all of whom were soccer players, it seemed only natural for her to play as well. She started playing when she was five and has not stopped since! She played in high school and in college. Her sophomore year of college she was named player of the week. Barbara has experience coaching youth soccer. She also has worked with children in other ways as well. She worked for Sylvan learning center as a teacher and was a teaching assistant with an elementary school for PE in Virginia.

Jeremy Maia grew up Morehead City, NC where he started playing soccer in high school. Since that time he has played on various outdoor, indoor and beach soccer teams. He has helped coach youth soccer and has been organizing his beach soccer team for the last seventeen years.

Barbara and Jeremy met playing Sand Soccer in Virginia Beach in 2006 and they got married in October in 2009. They now reside in Bogue, NC, and play on co-ed teams together.

Instructors:
Elizabeth Morrison has had a strong passion for soccer since she was eight years old. She played through high school claiming MVP and All-conference for her junior & senior years. Following high school, Southern Wesleyan University signed her on where she played for two years. Elizabeth and her husband now reside in Wilmington, NC.
